To celebrate my 100th post on What Sarah Writes I have decided to share a list of confessions or bad habits that I have which are either a result of blogging or kind of go against the whole purpose of beauty blogging.

1. I actually don't own a lot of makeup apart from lipsticks and eyeshadows

2. If I go to a makeup store I 'need' to swatch everything

3. Makeup is only a hobby to me so the little knowledge that I have comes from experimenting

4. Taking blog photos is my favourite part but the hardest task in getting a post published

5. I don't wash my makeup brushes as often as I should

6. To get a post done from start to finish it takes me around two hours minimum

7. I have never had my nails professionally done

8. I spend too much time planning and writing posts

9. Makeup is the only thing that I keep organized in my room

10. I rarely wear sunscreen or lotion

11. I can never get my photos to be as white and as bright as I want them to be

12. The oldest makeup item that I have is a light up High School Musical lipgloss. Don't worry, I don't wear it anymore!

13. I pick at my nail polish when I get nervous and I can go weeks with chipped polish

14. I keep makeup items way past their use by dates

15. I often stay up late at night writing posts and reading other blogs

What are some of your confessions?

Thanks for stopping by :)

New Look Top // Next Jeans // New Look Sandals // Accessorize Necklace

If you read my summer wishlist post you may have read that I've been loving off the shoulder and cold shoulder tops. I bought this top as an impulse buy but I actually didn't regret buying it. (Impulse buys don't usually have the same fate!) It has a beautiful crochet material in a pastel pink shade with lace details along the top and the straps. I think that it's perfect for summer since it is very flowy and light. I have been wearing these jeans a lot lately since they are a bit lighter therefore bearable in this heat. These tan sandals have been my favourite purchase so far this year. I love the strappy design and the heel is the perfect height for everyday wear. In this outfit I am wearing one of my staple jewellery pieces which is a dainty triangle pendant.

In other news, I chopped off my hair! I don't know if you remember but in older posts I had really long hair. It was getting quite hard to manage and I had been thinking about the idea for a long time. So a few months ago I decided to bite the bullet and to just go for it. At first I did miss my long hair as it had been at the same length for years but now I definitely love my shorter do.

Do you like the cold shoulder trend?

Summer wishlist 2016, topshop, river island, missguided, public desire, lulus, stella & dot

Summer is officially here! My written exams are finally finished and I'm just happy that I don't have to go back to school for another few months. Late last night I was browsing through Polyvore (which I am currently obsessed with) and basically tried to plan my dream summer wardrobe. I just love the idea of picking your favourite items and making collections and sets. After countless hours of browsing I managed to round up my favourites.
Topshop striped top // I am currently really into flowy off the shoulder and cold shoulder tops and stripes are my favourite patterns so when I saw this I immediately clicked the little heart button.

River Island flower print shorts // Bright patterns on shorts and me don't mix, especially when there is red involved. But these shorts are an exception. I love the overlay style and the tassel details are so cute!

Topshop button front skirt // I prefer denim skirts over denim shorts and this skirt has everything that I like. The button down detail is something that I love and the fact that it's black denim makes me like it even more.

Public Desire laced sandals // How gorgeous are these heels? I have been seeing the lace up trend a lot lately on Instagram and I think that these khaki ones would add a really nice touch to a summery outfit.

Missguided lace up sneaker // Sneakers are not what I usually pick for summer but I think that these ones would still be really nice and super comfortable to wear.

Stella & Dot botanical clutch // Nearly all of my clutches and bags are black so a patterned one like this would be a different addition to my somewhat boring collection.

Lulus black lace choker // I am quite late to the choker trend and I think that it's about time to buy one. The lace design on this one looks so pretty!

What do you think of my picks?

Simple summer makeup routine using Kiko, Essence, Rimmel and Cien makeup

As the temperatures have been soaring (and believe me, they are barely bearable!) I have also been changing up my usual makeup routine for a much simpler and lighter one.

Essence eyeliner pen, Kiko ultra tech curve mascara
Cien All-in-One BB cream
Kiko smooth temptation lipstick
Essence compact powder, Rimmel match perfection concealer

Face // As a replacement for foundation I have been using the Cien All-in-One BB cream in the shade light. It doesn't have the best coverage but it has enough that it hides the redness and mattifies my face. I recommend this to anyone that has oily skin and is looking for a light coverage for a really affordable price. The only negative thing that I have to say is that the range of shades is not as wide and I have only been able to wear this after spending some time in the sun as I am quite pale. I have been using the Rimmel match perfection concealer in the shade ivory for some time now. It is a really great concealer for both the under eye and for blemishes. To set my face makeup I am using my usual Essence powder in the shade pastel beige.

Eyes // For quite some time I had forgotten all about the Essence eyeliner pen but since rediscovering it I have been using it frequently. I find that it's both easier and faster to apply eyeliner with a pen instead of the liquid version. Since this eyeliner is longlasting it stays put after a long and hot day. I recently visited a Kiko store and this ultra tech curve mascara was one of the items that I picked up. I can say that I am in love and it's definitely one of my favourites so far. As the name suggests it is a curling mascara and I find that it is also a lengthening one.

Lips // The Kiko sweet temptation lipstick in 04 is also a recent purchase. It has been among my current lipstick favourites as it is a lovely nudish pink which is perfect for everyday wear.

Do you change up your routine with the change of seasons?

Simple Summer Makeup Routine

JORD wood watch, Accessorize gold triangle pendant, silver bar necklace

When it comes to jewellery I like to keep things simple. I prefer pieces that are easy to style with nearly every outfit. These three pieces are the ones that I find myself reaching for the most and I can't get enough of them.

Kiko Milano Smart Lipstick in 925, MAC Matte Lipstick in Velvet Teddy, Kiko Milano Smooth Temptation Lipstick in 04, Essence Sheer & Shine Lipstick in 09, current lip picks

Hello! Long time no see (again)! First of all I want to apologise for the lack of posts in the last months. It has actually been 3 months since my last post and I can't believe how fast time flies. We are already nearly half way through the year. I have been very unmotivated to blog recently and I decided to stop as I would rather not post anything instead of posts that aren't up to my standards. I will soon be finishing my annual exams so I will hopefully get back to my old blogging routine. Until then I hope that you will bear with me. In today's post I rounded up my current favourite lipsticks. Some I can't stop wearing and others I have fallen in love with.

In Malta there isn't a Kiko store so whenever I go to Sicily the first thing that I do is look for a store and have a little splurge. This is exactly what happened a few months ago. Among other things, I picked up two lipsticks which I both love. I have been wearing the smart lipstick in 925 a lot recently. I had been looking for a light brown lipstick for the longest time and when I saw this I immediately picked it up. The only thing that I don't like is that it is not as long lasting. I also love the smooth temptation lipstick in 04. Until recently I didn't really have any pink lipsticks so I decided to give this one a go. It is a lovely nudish pink shade and really long lasting. It is also easy to apply since it is thin, nearly like a lip liner.

Another favourite of mine is the MAC velvet teddy. This one is a more of your lips but better type of lipstick and it has a deep-beige tone. Despite being a matte it is not drying and applies really smoothly. It is also very long lasting. Usually I stay closer to the nudish side of lipsticks but recently I have been really liking the Essence sheer and shine lipstick in 09. As its name states, it is a sheer lipstick with a glossy finish. When applied lightly it goes on as a nice reddish tint but it can easily be built up and turns into a red shade with purple undertones.

What are your current lip picks?
