july favourites 2016 featuring Kiko eyeshadow, The body shop mask, schwarzkopf hair repair, gemporia bracelet

It's monthly favourites time again. I honestly don't know how but apparently we are half way through 2016 which is really crazy considering that Christmas was like yesterday! July was quite a lovely month as I turned 17 and got to visit London with my family!

july favourites 2016, Kiko eyeshadow 119 pearly nutmeg, eyeshadow swatch
july favourites 2016, The Body Shop, Tea trea oil wash.scrub.mask
july favourites 2016, Schwarzkopf hair repair leave-in conditioner, Marrakesh oil, coconut oil
july favourites 2016, gemporia rose gold bracelet,

Kiko single eyeshadow in 119 Pearly Nutmeg // As you read in the shimmer round up post I have been getting more into shimmery shades. This Kiko one is the perfect everyday taupe shade that has a pearly finish. I have been loving this eyeshadow both as an all over the lid shadow and also for the crease. The swatch doesn't do it any justice as it is much more pigmented when applied to the eye.

The Body Shop Tea Tree oil 3-in-1 wash.scrub.mask // Definitely loving this mask lately as it has helped a lot with my skin break outs. As its name suggests this product can be used in three different ways. I mostly use it as a gentle scrub and mask twice a week after cleansing my face. I leave it on for around 10 minutes and after washing it off it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth.

Schwarzkopf hair repair leave-in conditioner // This product is a new addition to my hair care routine which I have been using it alongside my usual products. I shake it well and apply a few sprays into my wet hair after washing. I find that it makes my hair feel so much smoother, shinier and healthier than before. I couldn't find this anywhere on the internet and after a really long search I managed to find a similar one on Amazon.

Gemporia 1/4ct diamond rose gold bracelet // I was fortunate enough to win this beautiful bracelet from Hayley's blog Haylvogel. It is such a beautiful and dainty piece and I even wore it for my birthday dinner a few weeks ago.

Have you tried any of these products?

10 things to do in London, London Eye

As some of you may or may not know I went to London with my family last week. I had a really nice time there and I honestly can't wait to go back. Five days is obviously not enough and I am in no way saying that these are the best things to do, they are just my top picks from my short stay. Without further ado, I hope that you enjoy today's post filled with some of my favourite snaps!

tips for visiting London, London holiday tips. 10 things to do in London

1. Visit all the touristy places

Get ready for long queues, hoards of people and a tad bit over-priced admissions. But I promise that it will be worth it in the end. My favourites are the London eye, Madame Tussauds, Tower Bridge, The Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, The Science Museum and The National Gallery (these two are free).

2. See a musical

You can't visit London without going to a musical. There are so many to choose from and they will definitely make the time really enjoyable. A tip is to only buy the tickets a few days before the show from a ticket booth since these will be reduced or half-priced.

3. Enjoy an evening at a park

If you would like to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city then find a nice park which London is littered with. There are many events happening in different parks everyday so you will definitely find one close to you.

10 things to do in London, Hyde Park

4. Take a river cruise

This is one of the best ways to see a lot of the most popular attractions while a guide explains the sights. Some landmarks that you will see are the House of Parliament, Big Ben, St. Paul's, The Shard and all the bridges.

5. Eat at a local pub

Nothing is better than tucking in a plate of fish and chips while enjoying the atmosphere and looking out at passers by.

6. Get an Oyster Card

The first thing that you should do once you arrive at the airport is to get an oyster card. It becomes your best friend when you are in London since you can use it for nearly every type of transport be it the bus, underground or train.

7. Shop till you drop

If shopping is your thing (like me) head down to the ever popular Oxford Street. Make sure to look up the shops before hand so you can make a plan on what to visit first. If you don't you will look like a head less chicken running about the street trying to find Primark while already carrying 4 full bags of clothes - true story.

I actually forgot to take a photo of Oxford Street. Yes, I was that excited.

8. Ask the locals

If you find yourself lost or in need of understanding the tube map don't be afraid to ask for help. I found that nearly everyone was more than ready to help us and they were very nice when doing so.

Here I am trying to work out the map. Look at that face of concentration!

9. Walk along the Thames at night

Head down to the river bank after you have enjoyed a fairly big meal at one of the many restaurants. The London skyline is such a beauty at night when all the buildings are lit up and everything is moving at a much slower pace.

10. Visit a market

London has many markets to choose from such as Borough Market, Brick Lane Market and Greenwich Market which are some of the most popular. We visited Camden Lock Market which has a more laid back vibe. You can enjoy a nice afternoon there while taking in all the smells of the delicious food stalls by the lock. You can also do a spot of shopping like I did (more about that next week!).

apps for smartphone

Hello! Today I am sharing with you some of my most used apps on my phone. I am not going to go through social media apps that are more common such as Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat. I don't think that I need to talk about them since most of us know them well and spend countless hours on them!

Pokemon Go // I know what you are probably saying. Sarah, this app is not in the photo. Well let me explain, I took this before the Pokemon craze took over and I couldn't just leave it out. As I said before I have been obsessed and I have even managed to get some of my friends to download it.

Color Switch // I must admit that I have neglected this game for a while but it is great for passing the time while waiting for the bus or for generally escaping boredom.

Bloglovin' // If you are a blogger or love reading blogs and you don't have this app yet then what are you waiting for? It is the best way to stay updated with favourite bloggers, save your favourite posts and it's one of the best tools to reach more readers for your blog.

Fit // I am not a fit person and I don't practice any sports but I still have this app. I don't know why but I love that it keeps a record of every walk or run and it kind of motivates me to walk more. (Although lately the motivation has been more Pokemon Go related)

My Day // I love this app to keep track of how many days or hours are left till important dates such as birthdays, holidays or exams.

Timetable // This is probably useless to mention in the middle of summer since it is a school app and school doesn't start for another month and a half. I love that it let's you create your own timetable along with information on the class, location and subject. You can also write down notes, homework and exams. The best thing is that it reminds you of any upcoming tasks beforehand so you don't end up forgetting about something important.

What apps do you use the most?

Product Empties, Essence mascara, Essence Eyeliner Pen, The Body Shop body butter, The Body Shop body wash Maybelline concealer, Suave leave in conditioner

I recently noticed that I had finished a few products in the last month and I also noticed that I had never done an empties post. So today I will be basically showing you the things that I have used up. In other words, the contents of my bin.

The Body Shop Strawberry Body Butter //  I love anything strawberry scented and body butters are some of my favourite skin care products. The two of these together makes me love this body butter even more. It leaves my skin feeling moisturized, soft and smelling of strawberries.

Essence Maximum Definition Volume Mascara // This was my everyday mascara until it ran out. It claims to be a volume mascara but I find that it is more of a lengthening one. Definitely need to repurchase soon.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer // A few days ago I was rummaging around my makeup collection and I found this at the bottom. I was raving all about this concealer last year and I guess that it's the reason why I never threw it out. It was great for covering the under eyes and blemishes. I will probably not repurchase this concealer as I find that the Rimmel True Match perfection one works better.

Essence Longlasting Eyeliner Pen // This is by far my most favourite eyeliner that I have ever tried. It is very precise, pigmented and above all longlasting. I cannot live without it and I have already repurchased.

The Body Shop Strawberry Shower Gel // As I said before, strawberry is one of my favourite scents. I have had this one for the longest time as I tend to use something sparsely when I like it. I will try to buy it again although I don't think that it's necessary seeing that I own another 6 like this in different scents.

Suave Strengthening Leave-in Conditioner // I have been using this for quite a long time and have already repurchased it a few times. I find that it doesn't weigh my hair down while also keeping the curls shiny and defined. You can read more about it and my other hair care products in this post.

Have you finished any products this month?

pamper routine 2016, The Body Shop body products, Grace Cole bath soak, Purple Hibiscus, Kiko nail polish, H&M nail polish

It has been a little bit quite around here as I have been a bit busy. Mostly because of packing, my birthday, studying and Pokemon Go. I'm kind of addicted. Who else is playing?

I love treating myself to a nice pamper from time to time. So today I decided to share with you what products I love and what I usually do to relax.

Bath & Body

pamper routine 2016, The Body Shop body wash, The Body Shop scrub, The Body Shop body butter, Grace Cole bath soak
pamper routine 2016, The Body Shop face mask, The Body Shop scrub, The Body Shop body butter, Grace Cole bath soak

There is nothing better than having a nice shower or bath. I'm more of a shower fan but I also love having a bath sometimes. During the summer months I tend to go for more fruity scents as you can probably tell. As a shower gel I have been using the glazed apple one. This came in a Christmas set that I reviewed some time ago. When I have a bath I throw in a handful of the Grace Cole bath salts which leave my skin feeling amazing. My all time favourite scrub is the blueberry body scrub. I love the smell and it does the job. I recently bought the raspberry body butter and I can say that I'm obsessed.

Face Masks

pamper routine 2016, The Body Shop blue corn 3-in-1 deep cleansing mask, The Body Shop tea tree oil 3-in-1 wash scrub mask

My two favourite masks are surprise, surprise... also from The Body Shop. I have been using the Blue Corn 3-in-1 deep cleansing mask for nearly a year and I still love it. It is great for exfoliating and removing impurities such as black heads. Recently I have been breaking out a lot and I was recommended the Tea Tree 3-in-1 wash.scrub.mask. I have only used it a few times but I can say that I really like it. It leaves my skin feeling smooth and mattified.

While I wait for the masks to dry I will usually either read, watch some videos or paint my nails while having a nice cup of tea. Lately I have been obsessed with Zoe's vlogs (as you can probably tell from the recommendations!) and I love JessBeautician's cooking videos. Her recipes are so easy and delicious. I have not been reading a lot but a few days ago I bought Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and I literally couldn't put it down until I finished it.

By now you are probably wondering if this post was actually sponsored by The Body Shop but I can assure you that it's not. Most of my skin care products are from there because I just love their products too much!

What do you do to relax and unwind?

Pamper Routine

Sunday, 17 July 2016

Until recently I had always been more into matte eyeshadows but lately I started experimenting more with shimmery ones. For today's post I decided to round up some of my favourites.

MUR Romantic Smoked pearly white, pink shimmer, purple brown  // Caramel Loose Eyeshadow // MUR Hot Smoked golden brown // MaxFactor Dawning Gold // Kiko 119 Pearly Nutmeg

As you can probably tell from the photos above, I am really into neutral looking ones like browns, coppers and golds.

The ones that I have been using the most are the first three shades from the MUR Romantic Smoked redemption palette. These shades are a pearly white, pink shimmer and a purple brown. The shades from this palette are so pigmented and I love the lovely selection. I even featured it in my June favourites.

Another favourite of mine is this Caramel Loose Eyeshadow. It is not as pigmented as the other shades but I think that it works great over a matte eyshadow to add a bit of shimmer. This one came with a magazine so I don't really know what the brand is. But I'm sure that there are so many brands that do similar pigments in this shade like Kiko, Nyx and Mac.

Since I am not that adventurous when it comes to eyeshadow, I don't wear a lot of the shades from the MUR Hot Smoked redemption palette. But I have been loving the golden brown one. It is very pigmented and I have been mostly wearing it as an all over the lid eyeshadow.

The coppery shade from the MaxFactor Dawning Gold duo palette has been another favourite of mine. Since it is very shimmery and pigmented I wear it more for going out rather than everyday . To my dismay this palette has been discontinued since my December Favourites posts but I'm sure that you can find a similar shade in their other palettes.

The Kiko single shadow in 119 Pearly Nutmeg is one of my most recent additions. It is very similar the the golden brown shade of the MUR palette. The only difference is that it is less pigmented and less shimmery which means that it's more wearable for everyday.

Do you prefer matte or shimmery eyshadows?

carrot cake
carrot cake
carrot cakecarrot cake
carrot cake

Baking is one of my favourite hobbies but I don't get to do it that often. Yesterday I got a little bored so I decided to bake something new. I was always a little unsure about carrot cakes as I had thought that vegetables and cakes didn't really go together but I was in fact really wrong. I loved making it and it turned out really nice. The cake was also a great hit with my family seeing that it was devoured within hours. I used this carrot cake recipe as a base but I'm not one to follow the instructions closely when it comes to baking (such a rebel) and that is why I decided to share with you my own take on this carrot cake.

Warning: Do not attempt to bake this recipe if you are not prepared to wash the dishes. Trust me. I was definitely not ready for the mess of the aftermath!

- Coconut oil to grease
- 2 large carrots grated
- 150g self-raising flour
- 75g plain flour
- 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon mixed spice
- 80g brown sugar
- 150ml olive oil/vegetable oil
- 100ml golden syrup
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- Handful of walnuts
- Icing sugar

- 2 large mixing bowls
- 20cm cake tin
- Whisk
- Wooden Spoon
- Scales
- Measuring cup
- Wire rack

- Preheat oven at 150C. Peel and grate the carrots and crush the walnuts. Set aside. Sift together the flours, bicarbonate of soda and spices in a bowl and set aside.
- Use a whisk to mix the brown sugar, oil, golden syrup, eggs and vanilla in a separate bowl. Mix until well combined.
- Pour the liquid mixture into the dry ingredients. With a wooden spoon mix the ingredients gently. Add the carrots and walnuts gradually.
- Grease the cake tin with coconut oil and pour in the mixture. Tap the pan to remove the trapped air. Optionally add a few whole walnuts on top.
- The cake takes around 40 minutes to bake but keep a close eye on it. An easy way to check if it's cooked is to insert a skewer and if it comes clean then the cake is done.
- After taking it out set aside for 5 minutes then place on a wire rack and let it cool completely.
- As a topping sift some icing sugar on top.

What is your favourite cake flavour?

June favourites, Makeup Revolution eyeshadow palette, Yankee Candles, Essence Eyeliner, Le Specs Sunglasses

Another month, another favourites round up. June was quite a hard month with all of the exams but I also had some fun times. I started blogging again, the summer holidays started and I attended the Isle of Mtv concert!

June favourites, Makeup Revolution eyeshadow palette, Yankee Candles, Essence Eyeliner, Le Specs Sunglasses
June favourites, Yankee Candle Bahama Breeze,

Essence waterproof gel liner in 02 Around Midnight // With all of this heat I have been trying to find a more longlasting eyeliner. I had forgotten about this one from Essence with I featured in a haul last summer. I am not usually one to experiment with coloured eyeliner but I quite like this one. It is a lovely deep blue with a hint of shimmer. The best thing is that its waterproof and won't melt off my face.

Makeup Revolution palette in Romantic Smoked // I have been loving this palette recently as it has a nice selection of my favourite shades. It consists of 6 matte and 6 shimmery eyeshadows in purple, pink and neutral shades. They are highly pigmented and very longlasting. The ones that I have been reaching for the most is the brown as it's a great for the crease and a perfect match for my brows, the pearly one works great as a highlighter and the shimmery purple looks lovely on the lids.

Le Specs Sunglasses in Bandwagon // These have been my go to sunglasses lately. I usually have a hard time finding a pair that look great on my face as most of them are far too wide but these ones fit nicely. These pair have a rubbery matte black finish which I find really unique.

Yankee Candle in Bahama Breeze // Want to feel like you are on a tropical holiday? Then this candle is the one. It has a lovely fresh scent and just like the company describes, it's a "tropical blend of pineapple, grapefruit and mango." I also really like the cute holder which I received for my birthday.

The citrus print frames are actually a diy that I made myself. If you are interested check out the post but please excuse the crappy photos since it was one of the first up on the blog!

Have you ever used any of these items?

Thanks for stopping by :)
