Hello! I have been posting so sporadically lately and it seems like I can't get back my blogging mojo. I never post something if I don't feel like it so I will have to wait until a wave of motivation hits. I just hope that they will be a little bit more frequent from now on!

In today's outfit I'm wearing some of my favourite summer items. I have recently took a liking to light pink (as you can probably tell from my last outfit post). Up until recently I was very much against wearing it so I don't know what has gotten into me. When I saw this oversized tee on Boohoo I was immediately drawn to it and I love the strappy details at the front.

I'm pretty sure that a pair of denim shorts are a staple in every body's wardrobe. They are so versatile and easy to wear. Recently I picked up this pair from New Look. I don't know why but I always end up purchasing from New Look when I'm looking for some trousers or shorts. They always seem like they have the best fit for my body. This still doesn't eliminate the problem of the dreaded 'back gap' as no matter what I buy, I will always have to deal with this. This is where a belt comes in handy.

As for shoes I decided to go with my gladiator sandals which were my favourites last summer and a choker* was my go to necklace. I completed the look with these reflective cat eye sunglasses* from Zaful which I have been wearing nearly everyday. They are such a fun item to wear.

Also can we all agree that Gozo is a gorgeous island?! I loved taking these photos overlooking the port and the Maltese islands. It looked so calm and peaceful.

As I said in my previous post, Zaful is currently celebrating their 3rd anniversary and they have so many sales and giveaways going on. Who doesn’t love giveaways? To learn more details about the giveaway you can head over the the Zaful Official blog. I would appreciate it if you tag my name @whatsarahwrites after participating the giveaway event. Zaful will choose a couple of winners after the event and give out huge rewards. By participating you will be in the chance of winning a $100 gift card! Good luck!

The weather in Malta has finally cleared up and it's getting warmer every day! I love this time of the year when it's not too hot or too cold and the days are generally nicer although being in the middle of my A level exams has definitely made my recent weeks less enjoyable!

heels, shoes, FSJshoes wishlist, New Look heels

I was recently introduced to FSJshoes and I loved their collection of footwear. At FSJshoes you can find a lovely selection of heels including stilettos and 4 inch heels. If heels are not your cup of tea, then you can also find flats, oxfords and sandals among other things. In today's post I put together some of my favourite shoes that I wish I could have in my closet right now.

And without anybody realizing, another month has nearly flown by. 2017 is seriously going by way too fast! March has been an eventful month, both school-wise and life-wise. Despite everything I feel much better now and I am excited about blogging again. Now enough with the rambling and let's get to the actual point of today's post where I have rounded up some of my faves from March.

Spring Updates, 6 changes to make this Spring, spring cleaning

Now that Spring has begun, we can hopefully kiss the horrible cloudy weather goodbye although today is definitely not how the first day of Spring should be! In this post I am going to share my favourite ways to refresh and step into Spring on a much more positive note. (After last week's post where I went into a long rant about blogging, I felt like it's time for a new, much more cheerful one!)

Am I falling out of love with blogging?

Here I am yet again after disappearing for nearly a whole month from my blog. Shit happens and I won’t apologize this time. It’s currently 11 at night and I’m really tired so what will follow will mostly just be me word vomiting every single thought that I have on my mind. So be warned.

I have been blogging on and off for over two years. My blog is probably the only thing that I have ever been passionate about as I have never had a hobby that I actually enjoyed before so it is really special. But recently I haven’t been feeling the same.

I don’t even know the reason why I stopped blogging in the first place. To be honest it was a long time coming. The last time that I had properly blogged was in December when I was doing blogmas. I have only put out a couple of posts since the new year and I just felt like the whole blogging thing was starting to get overwhelming and what once made me happy, it now just stressed me out.

This stress stemmed from a lot of things. Firstly, I was stressed by the feeling that I need to write a post. This only made me feel unhappy with the posts that I finally managed to put together as they were not up to my standards. I felt like the writing was terrible and did not actually reflect what I wanted to say. They were just words that I put together in a hurry while trying to meet the deadline that I had set in my mind. All of this resulted in me burning out.

I no longer felt willing to sit down and write, take photos and edit. I began to see it as a chore instead of a hobby. I began to question myself a lot. Why were my posts so bad? Why were my photos never bright/good enough? Was anybody actually interested in what I was saying? All of these why’s!

So, for the past few weeks I just couldn’t write anymore. I blamed my exams for not writing but at the end of the day, I realized that I was actually just falling out of love with my blog and anything that had to do with it.

Am I falling out of love with blogging?

Suddenly Instagram and Bloglovin were just a place for me to feel worse about my content. Twitter was something that had never gotten the hold of and my tweets were just a bunch of links to posts which were probably there for nothing. I missed out on twitter chats and saw all the bloggers around me just having fun and I was there just observing.

Valentine's Day Outfit with Zaful

Thursday, 9 February 2017

Today's post is going to be a bit different as Deborah from Distorted Priorities and I have teamed up to share our January favourites so make sure to head over to Distorted Priorities to read all about my favourites.

Hi everybody! I’m super excited to be working with Sarah and writing a guest blog post on What Sarah Writes! By way of introduction, my name is Deborah and I am 19 years old. I am a second year student at the University of Malta taking a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting and Marketing! I have a passion for anything beauty & fashion related. Another hobby of mine is to explore the word and travel – that is basically what Distorted Priorities is all about! I started my blog last September and today I will be bringing you my January Favourites from fashion, makeup, music and youtubers. If you like what you read, make sure to ‘like’ Distorted Priorities on Facebook and follow us on social media (all links will be at the end of the post) so that you will not miss out any more blog posts! Wow that was long! Let’s get onto the post shall we?

Starting off with beauty products, I have 5 products in all! Let’s take a look at them!

I am a tiny bit obsessed with ColourPop and I’m building quite a collection. I recently purchased this colour which is like a terracotta colour which is perfect for those who want to switch from the usual red lipstick but still want to stay on these kinds of shades. I will link the ColourPop haul & swatches post I did on my blog at the end of the post if you’re interested in more detail into how it looks.

Well, this is a simple lip balm but with a barely visible light pink tint to it and I just love how moisturized my lips feel after I use it!

3. Flormar Mascara – Spider Lash 3 in 1

To be completely honest with you, when I first tried this mascara I did not like it at all! I did not like the length & volume it gave but after I tried a couple of times I have grown fond of it! Apart from being super affordable, I love the natural look it gives to my lashes and whenever I want to look somewhat presentable at university or when I’m making a quick errand I like to apply a coat or two of this mascara. You can find this mascara at any of the Flormar outlets in Malta.

I recently purchased two Morphe Palettes from CultBeauty that I have been wanting for the longest time and when I made this purchase I received this blush palette for free. I love it because it comes with

9 different shades so you simply carry it with you and you’ll always find a shade that will suit your makeup look.

The last beauty related product is the Milani Everydy Makeup Palette. Again, I will link the post I did on the whole haul and swatches but I love this palette because you can create multiple looks from it, being a simple one or a smokey eye kind of look.

Moving on to clothing I have this chunky knitted black & white scarf that I carry around me wherever I go. During my exams, I used to wear this thing around my neck ALL-THE-TIME since it was super chilly and it would keep me so warm whether I was taking an exam or studying at the library. I had purchased mine from Mango.

I am SLIGHTLY obsessed with music and thank God a lot of new singles came out as soon as 2017 began! Apart from new singles (and a LOT of Bruno Mars songs) I have been replaying some oldies

I have been recently obsessed with vlogs from youtubers that I have been watching for a while now – my top 3 favourites would be Jeanine Amapola , Alisha Marie & Tara Michelle. I have also been binge-watching makeup tutorials by Jaclyn Hill. Recently, I discovered about this couple that are youtubers – Gabriel & Jess Conte who recently got married and I got to know their story and I have been obsessed with their vlogs! I’m a sucker for anything romantic, what can I do?

That brings us to the end of the post! Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to read this post! I hope you enjoyed it and I hope to see you over on Distorted Priorities.

P.S.: I may or may not be here again very soon! #staytuned

January Favourites

Thursday, 2 February 2017

A few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to be sent some Rosegal makeup items to try out and review. Rosegal has a wide selection of clothes, accessories and beauty products amongst others. I had previously raved about Rosegal's beautiful brush sets and this time around I decided to try out some of the makeup products available.

CC Cream* // First of all, I must say that I'm obsessed with the packaging design since it has lots of cute dinosaurs and the Empire State building sketched on the front. The CC cream is a very good match to my skin and has enough coverage that it hides the red areas on my face.

Cushion Foundation* // I have seen a lot of cushion foundations floating about the makeup world in the last few months but I was yet to try them out. While on the site I decided to pick one up to see what the hype was. The one I picked up is in the shade 13 which I have found to be a bit too light for me. I would suggest going for the darker shade available. The compact includes a sponge applicator, a mirror and an extra cushion foundation.

Loose Powder* // This loose powder also comes with a sponge that makes application easier. The powder mattifies the skin without making it look cakey.

Conceal & Contour Kit* // This palette includes 15 cream based shades range from really light to dark and even includes a shimmery highlighter. The main reason why I chose this was because I wanted to try out colour correcting but I was kind of let down. The shades change colour once applied and don't blend that well at all. Out of all the items I picked up, this was the only one that I was disappointed in.

Highlighter Stick*// This cream highlighter has such a lovely pearly golden finish to it which makes it look very natural once applied to the cheek bones and under the eyebrows.

Powder Blush* // The shade water red does look very intimidating in the compact but once applied it leaves a very natural looking glow.

Eyeliner // Eyeshadow Pencil // Eyeshadow Palette

Collagen Eye Roll-On* // This product claims to improve the elasticity and remove wrinkles of the under eye area. It can be applied by rolling the ball over the skin. I find that this is perfect for the evenings as it cools down and relaxes my eyes.

Eyeshadow Pencil* // This gold brown stick looks gorgeous on the eyelids alone and can also be used as a base for other powder eyeshadows. It also doesn't crease easily and can be rolled up for more product.

Eyeshadow Palette*// I am so in love with this palette. It includes 10 eyeshadows, 3 of which are matte while the others are glittery. All the shades feel creamy, blend very easily and they are also opaque. The small size and the lovely range of shades make this palette perfect for travelling and the mirror is an added bonus.

Eyeliner Pen*// The design on this pen matches with the CC cream mentioned earlier and again I think that it looks very cute. The felt tip is very sharp but on the thicker side.

Max Volume Mascara* // A mascara in the shape of a cat? Yes please. Besides looking so cute this mascara also does a wonderful job at curling my lashes and adds volume just like it states. Altough the want is quite big so it won't be liked by everyone.

False Eyelashes* // I have never been a fan of fake lashes but to be honest I had only ever tried those big ones that makes your eyes look like a snapchat filter. These ones are so natural looking and the band is transparent which makes it easier for them to blend in.

Brows, Lips & Applicators

Eyebrow Pencil // Lipstick

Matte Lipstick* // This is actually the second addition to my matte lipstick collection. I know shocker! The shade B16 is a lovely brown shade with red undertones and applies really nicely without budging.

Eyebrow Pencil* // The gold packaging of this brow pencil looks lovely and the triangle shaped tip makes it easier to apply. Unfortunately I found that the shade is a bit too dark for me but I can still work with it.

Flat Top Brush* (similar) // This brush has a flat top and its bristles are very soft. It is great for buffing in foundation and blending in the highlighter stick for a more natural finish.

Makeup Sponge* // I have recently been loving makeup sponges for applying foundations. This one is very soft and applies the foundation really nicely.

Once again I would like to say that I am very thankful and grateful for Rosegal for giving me the chance to try out all of these products.

Dresslink Jumper* // Next Jeans // Dresslink Scarf*// H&M Jacket // Dunlop Trainers

In case you were wondering, no, I am not trying to look like Mary Poppins! I had been planning on taking some outfit photos for a few days but when I finally found the time it started to rain. I decided to just grab an umbrella and take the photos anyway. I did end up getting the rain all over the camera but oh well, you gotta do what you gotta do. #bloggerproblems #bloggerslife

A few weeks ago I picked up some items from Dresslink which I had previously collaborated with in my first ever collaboration! My go to winter outfit lately has been jeans, a jumper and a jacket. A grey cable knit jumper* is a great thing to have as it matches with nearly everything and is easy to throw on. A recent obsession of mine has been bomber jackets and you may remember me mentioning this, in one of my fashion wishlists. While in London last July I managed to get my hands on this black bomber jacket which I have been wearing nearly everyday in the last few weeks! In my opinion a huge, thick scarf is an essential for the colder weather. I love this blanket scarf* as it keeps me warm and cozy while the colours look gorgeous. It's the perfect addition to a winter outfit. I couldn't help but finish off the outfit with my white trainers as I can't seem to get enough of them!

What are some of your winter outfit essentials?

What Sarah Wrote in 2016, 2016 favourites

Hello! I haven't written a post in over a month and I feel very like I don't know what I'm doing. So let's hope that what I am about to write will actually makes sense.

First of all, welcome back to What Sarah Writes. I hope that you had a lovely time over Christmas break. Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling that well on Christmas day but that only provided me with an excuse to watch even more Christmas films so it didn't turn out as bad.

After the longest break from blogging, I have returned and I will be trying to get back to my normal schedule as soon as possible. I have many fun posts already planned and even a few collaborations which I hope that you will all enjoy.

Today I decided to round up a few of my favourite posts of 2016. They don't necessarily have the most views or the most comments but rather the ones that I really enjoyed doing the most. Don't get me wrong, I love every post that I published but these were the ones that stood out for me and that I love looking back to from time to time.

If you would like to help me improve my blog, then feel free to fill in this quick survey. I would really appreciate it.
